With the new name Flying Dutchman sailed by skipper Isidoor Speelman and crew Emily Witham it won Club Championship 2010-2011 in Esperance. Also sailed in The National championships in 2011-2012 it ended 10th overall. (placed 3rd youth sailors). Now passed on to Isidoors younger brother Gerrit Speelman with crew Hunter McGill. Sailed for some great seasons the Flying Dutchman has been passed on to Jamie Stewart. She will sail with skipper Cameron Saunders this season (2015-2016). The third generation of the family(Nearly 3 Years old)had their first sail in it January 2011. During 'Funny Faces' life thus far over 6000 people have been introduced to sailing, trained or raced in it at Scout Jamborees, School Sailing Camps, Sailing Club/AYF training days and Scout Sailing Competitionís. The boat is as sound and as beautiful as it ever was. Although it has been re-painted the original 'Funny Face' sign writing has been retained for the 40 years of the craft. By the way the original Tasker Main, Jib and Spinnaker cost a total of $119 back in 72. || Edit |
