Qld States
I have recently acquired a 125. Can anyone tell me when and where the Qld States are to be held.
Thank you, Susan

Re: Qld States
The QLD States for 2006 will be held over the Easter Weekend on the 14th, 15th, and 16th April at Maryborough Sailing Club at Hervey Bay. The State Titles are for sailors of all levels of experience to compete with an A Division(longer course with spinnaker) and a B Division(shorter course to cater for boats with no spinnaker). We would love to have another boat on the water at Easter so I hope you can make it.

Re: Qld States
We are also considering going to Hervey Bay for the 125 State Titles. We have never been to a state titles or to Hervey Bay. So can anyone please answer the following;

How long does it take to drive there from Brisbane?

Where do people normally stay. Is there somewhere close to the sailing club?

Where is the regatta held and what are the conditions like. We are novice sailors and reluctant to sail in open water?

We are a family of 4. As this will also have to cover as a family holiday, is there somewhere for those not sailing to watch and keep entertained?

Any other relevant info?

Thanks

Re: Qld States
To answer your Questions;
Hervey bay is about 3.5 hours from Brisbane (traffic dependant of course)

There are caravan parks and holiday units near by, try the RACQ travel page for places that are close, the club is a Scarness. there is a caravan park next door to the club, it is the beach front tourist park scarness (or something liek that)

Hervey bay is open water, however at easter, we usually have moderate conditions and the water is usually fairly flat. there are always pick up boats around, the Marybourough sailing club runs a great regatta.

as for other things to do, the best place to start is again the RACQ website, but there is a cinema, and small shopping complex there as welll

the notice of race will be posted in the website shortly

I hope I have been helpful
