class rules- spinnaker
I'm looking to sew a new kite and was wondering if there were any class rules or specifications I need to meet? What are the restrictions (if any) on cloth weight, size, shape or design? Anything else I should know about before I start...?

Re: class rules- spinnaker
Karina,
Firstly I am not a sail maker so I cant help you with many of your questions, however I can tell you that the spinnaker must comply with the rules of construction and measurement available from the information section of this web page.

As for the type of cloth etc, I use North Sails from Brisbane and the my kite is 3/4 or 1/2 ounce (I can remember which) rip stop nylon.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Grant

make sure its a good shape, otherwise it'll be very hard to sail downwind. its best you get a sail maker to make it.

Re: class rules- spinnaker
Thanks. Found the info, and having read through it there seems to be no restrictions on either the cloth weight, the number of panels or the design (crosscut, radial head etc) which I'm taking to mean they don't exist?
I realise sailmaking is an art, but I figure there's only one way to learn it and with the advice and supervision of a friend who's the owner of my local loft I'm hoping things don't go too badly
(...well, that's what I'm hoping!)
