Return to the Forum List Rudder Boxes | I believethat the NEC passed the use of dagger boxes at the meeting in NSW this year. Is this so, and what is the maximum depth below hull bottom. I have not seen any change in the Rules of Measurement. I want to build one soon for the rest of the season.

| Re: Rudder Boxes | Greg
Wasn't at the titles but if this is the second reading and approval of the rule through the normal measurement annual conference, the rule will not come into force until 1 July 2008.
Provided the constitution hasn't changed in my absence.
If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will chime in, if not you can sail with the rudder but not as a legal 125 until 1 July.

| Re: Rudder Boxes | Rule changes come into effect from the 1st of June
Changes to the Rules of Measurement and Construction shall, if passed by a majority of more than half (1/2) of the delegates or proxies present and voting, be automatically included on the Agenda for the next Conference. If passed similarly for the second time, such changes shall be enforced from 1st June following the Conference. The only exception will be by a NEC initiated conference Agenda item and ratified by a majority vote at the Conference, in circumstances where rule review is deemed necessary to protect the current 125 class design “status quo”, and in circumstances of errors and omissions in the Rules of Measurement and Construction.

| Re: Rudder Boxes | See I knew I was nearly right, just a month out.
But more importantly was it the 1st or 2nd reading or was it NEC initiated, Jeremy?

| Re: Rudder Boxes | Greg, currently (existing rule) there is no max. extension - as far as you are game, without breaking the box!! From the 1st July, the max. extension below the hull will be 680mm measured, as described in the motion passed (2nd time)by the states in Jan. at Sunshine,by sitting a rectangle of that length on the keel adjacent to the blade
(projected, if necessary)
