Try Before You Buy

So do you want to try a 125?

If you're not sure you want to buy a boat, and would like to find out what a 125 is like, the 125 state associations may be able to help. A number of 125ers are more than willing to take interested people for a sail. Your first step is to contact your state contacts, and work from there. Recommended items are wetsuits/warm woollen jumpers, sunscreen and old shoes. It is mandatory that you have buoyancy vests on you at all times, and usually you can arrange borrowing or hiring these from a sailing club.

Alternatively, if you don't want to invest in your own boat, there are often people looking for crew. The best approach is to turn up to a yacht club and ask one of the sailors if anyone wants a crew. You will usually find someone looking for a volunteer.
